This fine piece of work is my parts hauler project. It is a 1977 Ford F-100 4x2 with a 300 ci 6 cylinder engine, a 3 speed column-shifted manual transmission (converted to 4 speed SROD), manual steering (update: converted to power steering) and brakes and a 9" rear end. I think it is a 133" wheelbase. As you can see, it is mostly red, except for all of the rust holes and the green tailgate.
A fun story about getting to know my truck.
Under the hood.
My exhaust system.
In the cab.

I took these to show that my truck actually pulls its weight once in awhile, and also to show that with only a third of a load of firewood, the tires tuck inside the wheelwells (although the leverage of all the weight at the back of the bed is partially to blame). I am going to invest in some add-a-leaves to make my truck slightly more eager to hold firewood, motorcycles, etc... Also, you can see part of the Hunter Bros. Christmas Tree Farm (one of many places I work) in these shots.

Lookie, I got a nice, straight, chrome rear bumper with a diamondplate top from a 1980-86 truck. I had to drill two new 9/16" holes in the frame, which required me to buy a $14 drill bit! (grrrr).

During the same junkyard trip that I got the rear bumper, I picked up the diamonplate bedrails shown above. In addition to being cheap and fitting my truck, they match the bumper. What a deal!

And, speaking of junkyard visits, I had Isaac catch this one of me running up a hill that really needs something more than a 2 wheel drive truck....

Check out my nice straight front bumper and clear parking lamps from an older truck.

My dog doesn't get out often, so I took him for a two hour ride around the southern Iowa countryside. As you can see, he was ecstatic.

This is when I pulled home the new flatbed for Isaac's truck. It was the first time I've ever towed anything with this truck, and it was reassuring to see that my bumper didn't fall off and that the truck had plenty of engine and braking power. You can also spot Lexy, Isaac's dog (at the time), in my truck bed if you look.....

I added a set of auxiliary backup lights, although maybe I should've fixed the existing ones first.... anyway, it's just nice to be able to see where I'm backing up at night. To ensure that they burn brightly, I ran a fused 12 gauge wire from the battery through a relay triggered by the existing reverse lights, and then all the way back to the new lights. You can see the relay on the driver's side of the engine compartment in the first picture.

And finally, some pictures comparing my truck to Isaac's 1975 360-powered F250 Highboy. It has 35" rubber, a four-speed, and could just generally eat my truck for lunch.
